Rio de Janeiro's other Ipanema Beach Hot Spot For Apartments Accommodations, Barra da Tijuca

By Kimberly Zappata

Barra da Tijuca stands out as the lengthiest beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, having six Miles of pristine and exotic green water. It is also usually frequented by exhilarating surf welcoming surfers equally for starters and experienced surfers. It is simply 20 minutes from Ipanema and Copacabana. A normal surfer vacation in Brasil generally entails purchasing a new board and utilizing the bus out to Barra to test it out.

If you have got a apartment in Barra or you go out early and plan to stay there the entire day, you will enjoy the first few kilometers of the beach which are generally filled with cafes and seafood restaurants, so you may have a snack as you take a break from riding the surf.

In addition to eateries, you'll uncover various "barracas" (in Portuguese) or kiosks, in which are simply food and drink stalls on the beach. It's calm on weekdays, and crazy on warm summer weekends from December to March. An extension of this Beach is referred to as Praia do Pepe. This name had been provided to the beach because Pep was the nickname of a young boy selling beer, mineral water and home made, natural sandwiches at the beach as well as doing several sports.

Whilst renting from the numerous apartments accessible in this tropical area is the way to stay, you can get there in many ways. The majority of buses don't pass the entire beach extension, so if you would like to go by bus, it will leave you on the backstreet and you have to stroll a little bit. There are several vans that go there as well but if you need a safe bet, the optimum option is to take a cab or rent a car to get there.

Buses from downtown to Barra (The Alvorada) pass by means of Rio de Janeiro's Copacabana beach, Ipanema, Leblon and downtown Rio. Simply stick your hand out as soon as they approach you and they'll pick you up.
